autumn leaves

this song always reminds me of the autumn- memories and the fading of one season into another

memories

memories pressed between the pages of my mind
memories sweetened through the ages just like wine
quiet thoughts come floating down and settle softly to the ground
like golden autumn leaves around my feet
i touched them and they burst apart with sweet memories

of holding hands and red bouquets and twilights trimmed in purple haze
and laughing eyes and simple ways and quiet nights and gentle days
with you

As an unabashed Elvis fan, I have to say I LOVED his '68 comeback special. Also, just dropped by to let you know I have a new blog.

Bonjour Betmo,

You have not yet finished to astonish me. So you are an admirer of Elvis. First I read the text and thought you have embarked there on a kind of enlarged Haiku and then it dawned on me that E.Presley might have sung this beautiful text. And indeed.

Thanks for this one. Have a splendid autumn, Betmo.

I play this on the piano for my husband; it was one of the very few songs he ever liked.

He had the recording that was done by Roy Clark; frankly, I prefer the Elvis version..........
